Red wine is increasingly becoming a health elixir: the pesticide resveratrol contained in it not only protects the heart andÂ
vessels from infarction and calcification. It is also intended to reduce the risk of lung cancer, especially among male smokers.
This was the conclusion reached by the scientists around Chun Chao of the American health care provider Kaiser Permanente.
The researchers from Pasadena, California, evaluated data from 84-70 men between 45 and 69 years of age who participatedÂ
in the California Men's Health Study.Â
They had available clinical information as well as self-reporting on the lifestyle of the study participants.Â
The scientists compared the consumption of beer, red and white wine as well as spirits to the risk of lung cancer.Â
In their calculations, they took into account all common risk factors for the disease, primarily smoking, chronic lung disease COPD,Â
age, education, body mass index.
