    Cheese from Pag - PAŠKI SIR – extra hard sheep’s cheese rich in essential oils produced by the family Pernjak, cheese making tradition since 1890, Kolan, island of Pag, Croatia.

    100 g contain 796 mg of calcium – daily dose of an adult should be at 1000 mg, calcium is especially important for tooth and bone formation, blood coagulation, correct function of nerve impulse transmission, hormones and signaling substances, heart function, muscles (cardiac conduction)

    Contains high amounts of calcium, vitamin A, vitamin B, magnesium, potassium and the cheese is lactose free. The cheese from Pag was awarded a prize for the best sheep’s cheese in the world at the World Championship in Wisconsin, USA. Since 1890, the family Pernjak from Kolan, island of Pag, has been known over generations for the production of cheese specialties of the highest quality.

    Mixed-milk cheese 80% cow's milk + 20% sheep milk 

    The hard cheese made of cow's milk and sheep milk is full of the characteristic spicy aroma and the flavour of the island of Pag and the Adriatic Sea. The cows that give the milk that is used for the production of this cheese never comes in touch with any industry. They live and graze on the highest point of the island of Pag and their only source of food consists of the plants and grasses rich of essential oils and vitamins that have a characteristic spicy aroma. On the island, you can find more than 250 different types of grasses and herbs, for example wild fennel and sage.  This in turn gives the cheese its unique taste and quality. In addition, the cheese matures for at least half a year and longer in fresh air which is also very salty.

    The semihard cheese is produced from 100 % cow’s milk. The cows live and graze on the highest point of the island of Pag and never come close to any industry or other bad influences. Thus, the cheese is full of the smells of the island of Pag and the Adriatic Sea and is matured under the influence of the eternal Bora and the sea salt spread across the island.
