Long after taste is concluded with pleasant juiciness and matured tannins. With maturation in big oak barrels, this speciality of Slovenian Istria, gets additional nobleness.
Aging potential: 5 years and up
Food and wine pairing recommendation: Refošk wine is an excellent companion to dried meat, rich meat dishes where pork meat prevails, beef, game and sheep. This wine is also a good compagnion to dishes, such as sardines on grill, "sardines in savor", tuna and mackerel. It also combines very well pasta with stronger sauces.
